Hillsborough Seeking Parks and Recreation Volunteers

10/13/08 The Town of Hillsborough is seeking volunteers to fill five openings on the Hillsborough Parks and Recreation Board.

Parks and Recreation Board members advise the town and planning boards about park issues. They also provide comments about recreation space offered by various developments and work to implement the Master Parks and Recreation Plan.

“The town’s first large-scale community park — Gold Park — is being constructed so it is an exciting time to join the Parks and Recreation Board,” Hillsborough Planner Stephanie Trueblood said.

The board also is working on a community connectivity plan. Such a plan was recommended in the updated version of the Master Parks and Recreation Plan that the Hillsborough Town Board adopted last year.

The goal of the community connectivity plan is to provide detailed analysis of the condition of pedestrian and bicycle amenities in Hillsborough and recommendations for improving those amenities. The Parks and Recreation Board gave top priority to the plan and immediately began work on the project in September 2007. Work on the plan is expected to be complete by March 2009.

The Hillsborough Parks and Recreation Board meets at 7 p.m. on the third Tuesday of each month.

For more information, contact Hillsborough Planner Stephanie Trueblood at 732-1270 Ext. 74.

Apply here or pick up an application in the town clerk’s office on the Town Hall campus at 101 E. Orange St. Completed applications will stay on file for future vacancies.
