Police Arrest Man in Shooting of 2

11/19/08 — Hillsborough police arrested a man early Nov. 16 in the shooting of two men, one fatal.

Scorpio White, 20, of 241 Harper St. was arrested and charged with first-degree murder, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill and firing into an unoccupied dwelling.

Police responded at 11:58 p.m. Nov. 15 to a call of shots fired at 556 Cornelius St. When officers arrived, they found two men with gunshot wounds.

Bernard Foust, 50, of 556 Cornelius St. and Jerry Wardlow, 32, of 667 Oak St. were shot. Foust was pronounced dead on the scene, and Wardlow was taken to Duke University Hospital with a wound in his left arm.

White was arrested a short time later.

Eyewitnesses on the scene said the shooting was the result of a fight that occurred the night before. As the investigation continues, other arrests may be forthcoming.
