Channel 18

Hillsborough's government access channel -- Hillsborough Gov TV 18 -- is one of the town's tools to promote public awareness and community involvement. 

The provision of a town government channel in the local lineup is a condition of the town's cable franchise with Time Warner. The channel began broadcasting in spring 2009.

In this first step, the channel serves as a bulletin board with town government information. Citizens can expect to see small video clips; service numbers and information; and emergency information.

The town is not ready financially nor does it have the space for televised meetings of the Hillsborough Board of Commissioners. However, the system used to operate the channel was selected based on the ability to expand to a full cablecast system with additional programming. The town hopes to secure grant funding to help with any expansions of the channel's programming.

The channel is telecast on Time Warner Cable 18 and is operated by the Town of Hillsborough. It is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
