Town Clock Committee
The Hillsborough town clock was assembled in London in the late eighteenth century, and is believed to have been a gift to the town in the 1760s. The clock was positioned in several different locations around town, until 1846 when it was placed in the clock tower of the Orange County Court House. In 2001, after approximately 250 years of time-keeping, the clock stopped working. A citizen committee was formed to work on the restoration and rehabilitation of the clock. The clock was completely restored, and the clock tower was reconstructed. A rededication ceremony was held on June 18, 2004. The Town Board appointed a standing clock committee to anticipate and address future problems as they arise.
