MOTOR POOL


Mission Statement
To maintain a scheduled maintenance program for all the Town of Hillsborough vehicles and equipment and meet all of the departments equipment needs so the departments can meet the needs of the citizens.

The Motor Pool is staffed by a Fleet Maintenance Supervisor and two fleet mechanics.

The current facility is located at 719 Dimmocks Mill Road and was built approximately forty years ago. The Town is making plans to build a new facility in FY05.

The Motor Pool offers a variety of services including preventive maintenance, major vehicle and equipment repairs, tire repair, welding, state inspections, brake work, electrical repair, diagnostic testing and hydraulic testing and repair, and other types of vehicle and equipment maintenance. The Fleet Maintenance Supervisor maintains a computerized record system on all the vehicles and equipment. This record aids him in monitoring and creating an annual budget for the Motor Pool, and in preparing reports for management and other departments.

The Town gets it's fuel from Orange County and all of the vehicles are equipped with fuel modules that allows dispensing of fuel to authorized vehicles only. The use of the fuel modules provides a computerized printout of the amount of fuel a vehicle gets.

The Motor Pool maintains fifty-five vehicles and 31 pieces of heavy equipment, five self-propelled mowers, and miscellaneous push mowers, weed eaters, pumps, welders, generators, etc.
