US 70/Cornelius Street Task Force

Hillsborough and Orange County have been cooperating on a small area plan to encourage the redevelopment of the Cornelius Street portion of US 70 Bypass through Hillsborough. A second task force to address the eastern portion of US 70 will likely be established in the future.

Neighborhood residents and property owners have been meeting with elected officials, planning staff, and economic development staff since June 2006 to formulate a vision for this corridor.

An open house was held in December and the Town Barn. The task force is putting the final touches on a draft document. Any comments on this preliminary document can be forwarded to Hillsborough Planning staff or shared with the committee on March 21 (7 PM meeting in the Town Barn).

Copies of the document are also available for review at Town Hall, Mayo's Unisex Hair, and Hillsborough Coin Laundry.

A public hearing will be held on this document in the coming months.
